Food Group: plans for 2026
The Food Group got together recently to decide what they wanted to do this year. Here is what they came up with:
- following the success of the Food Group’s shared meals they will be holding 2 more this year one in May and one in the autumn
- to support locally grown food they will work with the Growing 4 Life project to grow vegetables for the autumn shared meal
- they are offering to run sessions for schools on where food comes from
- to carry on looking after their new orchard at Bridge Street allotments
- to learn about saving seeds for next year’s vegetables
- to hold another session in the autumn on preserving food – this time for HEAT members
- and to keep good links with Suffolk-wide food partnerships as part of changing the wider system

The 2027 Brett River Festival: an update
Since the last newsletter we have emailed 140 community groups in Hadleigh to find out if they would like to be involved in the festival and contacted parish councils on the River Brett, and its tributaries, to see if they’d like to join in too.
We have already received some exciting offers to run river themed art and history exhibitions, sessions on drumming, singing, music and dance, as well as performing a play and producing materials about the river, it’s history and wildlife.
Thanks to the enthusiasm of local groups we are beginning to see what the festival could look like.
The River Festival Working Group is meeting again on March 19th 7.30pm at the Leisure Centre. Come along if you’d like to be involved.

Would you know what to do if it happened here?
Come along to the next Deep HEAT discussion where we will work through what we would need to do – practically, as households and as a community.
